King Eider continues at Hammonasset State Park

High tide, Eider was present entire time of visit from 4pm till 6pm. If you go at the high tide be cautioned that getting to the moraine trail may require wading through about 10 to 12 inches of water. Other birds of note: Roseate Tern (1), Common Tern (12+), Least Tern (At least 35), Little Blue Heron (1), American Oystercatcher (4)

Blue Grosbeak Cove Island Bird Sanctuary

9/5/10, 0620 - There was a Blue Grosbeak (female) calling loudly and continuously at Cove Island Bird Sanctuary. I had excellent, close views; the bird was first seen along the north perimeter and later moved to the center field and perched on a snag near the pond.
