Batteries

The heavier acid will settle to the bottom of the cell with the original density in the middle and the least dense on the top. Problem here is that the lead material of the plates can be damaged (read sloughing) by the stronger acid at the bottom and also by the watery electrolyte at the top.

Re: T&T: Battery filler system: CAUTION

But even so, properly topping off 8 batteries, some in places slightly difficult to reach, is significantly eased by using this filler. A genuine caution that people should remember is that the tip of the filler has been dipped into sulfuric acid and should not be touched at all.

Re: T&T: Repair/Replace, was "Replacing Fuel Tanks"

One boat that I own I found a leak on top of the tank where rust occurred due to water infiltration from above. I cleaned all the rust off and got the top of the 175 gal tank back down to metal. When I was done, along with many, many pinholes, I had a whole the size of a golf ball and one the size of a soft ball. I decided to glass over the entire top.

Currently to measure the GPS temperature I have a K type TC taped to the top of the GPS RF shield. Since the temperature sensitivity was noticed, the GPS has been sitting under a wool sock with a 1Lb roll of solder sitting on that (That does help a bunch).

If you miss this one you will have to walk all the way back to the Wards Island ferry dock. If arriving in early am you must obtain your ticket from a machine just inside the gate so be sure to have $1.00 and $2.00 and/or 25 cent coins before you arrive at the docks as there is no place to get change and the machine does not make change.
