Re: T&T: Sawzall was: Cutting Anchor Chain

'Lo All, I know it should go without having to mention it, but planning on using powered equipment to cut chain can lead to problems. I have not seen this posted as of yet, so here it is now. I use power tools all the time on boats - in safe/benign conditions.

Where did all the Birds go?
Thu, Sep 13, 2007 6:15 PM
After what was I felt a fairly poor showing all in all I found by far and away the best bird of the day on my way back home with a brief stop at Allen's Meadows. Over in the back of the almost dried out pond behind the Dept. of Public Works fenced off area was a Yellow-breasted Chat. I actually managed to see the bird three or four times?

Re: [CT Birds] Black Vultures in south cental coastal CT

I can't help but think that the crow die-off a few years ago (from West Nile) may have triggered the population "explosion" of vultures and ravens in the state. The timing seems about right. Nature does abhor a vacuum, after all!

Suggestions for cats
Tue, Sep 18, 2007 10:26 PM
By the way, outside cats do NOT necessarily die young - all but 1 of mine (who disappeared) have lived to 15 or older, and a neighbor had 2 who made it to 18. If you have a cat hanging around who seems friendly you might try putting a collar on it and see what happens.

TWL: Passing alarms through computer
Mon, Apr 1, 2002 6:30 AM
My computer could completely die and it wouldn't effect the normal function of the alarm system at all. That's not to say that alarms can't be based on computers. Under the covers, there is a computer there some place. They are solid state embedded devices that are meant to run forever without intervention.
