Re: [time-nuts] ADEV vs. OADEV

Hi Magnus, I've never seen it in print either but I coined the name when I wrote my ADEV tools. I've found a profound difference in the overlapping form of ADEV in many cases and so I use it a lot now -- especially when analyzing the effect of tides on precision pendulum clocks, or other periodic effects, such as cycling A/C or diurnal effects.

Re: [time-nuts] New precision watch

Looking at the datasheet for the DS3232, it doesn't appear that they mean for it to run off of a small coin cell in a watch. Its battery operating capability is purely to keep it running when the main power is turned off. I would suspect that the DS3232's power consumption is due to its being able to drive sizable loads on its various pins.

The advantage of off-chip timekeeping is the low power consumption of dedicated RTC chips that makes them able to run from a coin cell forever. If you have a GPS receiver or worse, an OCXO or a Rubidium, low power at that level cannot be a serious concern.

The older units used two 9.6V DEAC coin cell stacks for each of the 19.2V packs. Hope this helps, Robert G8RPI. ________________________________ From: J. L.

Up north where Evening Grosbeaks are common they have the nickname of "yellow pigs" I've coined a new nickname for Snow Buntings "white pigs"...boy do they eat a lot! Speaking of the buntings, they are hanging out near the porch right out my office window today to stay out of the wind.

Here is the output for that file: * -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1518 May 26 15:57 usrp_b210_fpga.rpt It is a total of 1.5K which is far less than 32KB meaning the b2xx_fx3_tools could have been able to load the contents of the report as you coined @Tue, Aug 8, 2023 2:34 PM. I also typed down the contents below so the viewers can have a look.
