>From Bev Propen 5/5 Orange I found this on the Central Park bird website. CONFESSIONS OF A BIRD-WATCHER:by Ogden Nash Bird-watchers top my honors list. I aimed to be one, but I missed. Since I'm both myopic and astigmatic, My aim turned out to be erratic, And I, bespectacled and binocular, Exposed my self to comment jocular.

[Ontbirds] Hawk Owl (Moose Creek east of Ottawa)
Mon, Feb 22, 2010 12:19 AM
Look on both sides of the railroad tracks and check the top of wooden poles both along the road and by the tracks. According to a report on Larry Neily's rare bird website, the owl has been at that same location since January 4th, 2010. From my observation of this species here in eastern Ontario, they usually are gone by early to mid-March.

[Ontbirds] Loggerhead Shrike - Cameron Ranch - Carden Alvar
Fri, Apr 8, 2011 8:11 PM
From the parking lot at Cameron Ranch on Kirkfield Road 6, it was directly north about 150 metres, perching on the top of hawthorn bushes and dropping down to the ground seeking prey. This is the same spot we saw one last year. A Wilson's Snipe was winnowing overhead. Ron drove up Wylie Road as far as the Sedge Wren Marsh.

Re: [Ontbirds] spruce grouse

The bird, when I saw it, was perched on a dead branch near to the top of a tree. The area, a section of the Cedar Trail, contains a dense stand of diverse conifers. The observation happened around 7-7:30 pm and I got a good view of the bird. After a minute of observation, it went down quietly between the branches.

TWL: intro/info wanted on Clipper Craft boats
Mon, Aug 21, 2000 7:20 PM
Rosborough's RF-246, and the Nimble Nomad have been at the top of my list. There's a 26' Clipper Craft (manufactured up in Portland, OR) for sale nearby that's right in my meager price range and that has most of the features I'm looking for.
