calling all owl lovers

During each listening period, the surveyor records all species of owls seen and heard. I have listed the available routes below, as well as the nearest town. If you are interested in surveying one of the routes, or would like more information, please contact Susan Debreceni by phone or email (toll free: 1-888-448-2473; sdebreceni@bsc-eoc.org).

Apparently the intent was to compete with top New England Counts (New Haven, South Kingston, Lower Cape). Although the species totals never materialized, there always seems to be a rarity or two that makes its way into the American Birds New England Summary.

The birds gave terrific scoped views, feeding near the tops of 3 spruce trees beside the road, adjacent to hydro pole #6971 (the first hydro pole past North Baseline Road on the south side). 2004 Ontario Road Atlas. MapArt Publishing.

Top speed is off from 8.3 to 8.2. I was surprised though to see such a dramatic difference in consumption. Richard
