Apparently, there's no mil-spec designation, but there is something called the B605 alloy specification, the origins of which are a mystery to me (having only heard of it since yesterday). The other alternative is an electrical controller.

All my prior training was about Variation and compass deviation now al of a sudden we had declination and mils?? instead of degrees , minutes and seconds. And of course for the orienteering exercises we were told to use offsets. During one exercise I got separated from my unit and made it back to camp without a map or compass.

Urethanes can be buffed up too but they are usually only 5-6 mils thick so you run the risk of going right thru or more likely you'll grind it down too far and the sun will get to the undercoats and it will time to re-paint.

When the power company supplies the 4 Wire (Red - Green - White - Black conductors) 200 amp service to a home, that cable, of the correct circular mil area, is individually striped of the insulation, inserted in the proper connector contained in the power buss, and TIGHTENED, to make an absolute positive connection.

It has a lot to do with MIL 1553B stuff. PS Pasternack has an amusing reputation around our telescopes - their SMA adapters fall apart when looked at sideways, so we generally just toss 'em when we run into them. PPS Look at the Pasternack website with any browser but IE, and the text in the menus doesn't render at all!

being 1E-24 cm^2 or a shake being 1E-8, both being from early nuclear weapons development, and essentially a rounded value for some useful size: cross-section for a nuclear reaction, and generation time for fission, respectively) (I understand from some casual googling that the gnat's ass is used by machinists to refer to a tenthousandth of an inch/tenth of a mil

At JPL, we use IRIG to transfer time around between racks, particularly for things like MIL-STD-1553B monitors, which timestamp the bus traffic to the nearest microsecond or fraction, sync'd by the IRIG input. There's something really convenient about needing just one cable/fiber to perform the function. Audio LTC is encoded differently than IRIG..
