Re: [time-nuts] RS 232

Then along came the IBM-PC, with its comport card that had both 20ma current loop, and RS232 implemented using single transistor circuits, and the die was cast. The MAX232 also implemented the standard incorrectly by leaving out the hysteresis and going with a TTL threshold.

GPS Units in Z3801A
Tue, Jul 11, 2017 10:27 PM
How often does the front end of the GPS module die? Will the newer 8 channel modules work in the Z3801A or do I need to locate an old 6 channel version? Is there a tells-all web page or message to this list about GPS modules for the Z3801A?

There, the larger concern is the die-off of Common Eiders, but all species found on Cape Cod Bay and Wellfleet Harbor shorelines are documented.

Hi Some, but not all, of the counters we saw die also had fan issues. I agree that once the fan goes, the power supply probably is running on borrowed time. Cleaning the fans and checking their function was part of the yearly “calibration” of the counters. I have no idea how may fans got replaced as part of that process.

All other grounds have been cut loose. My antenna is a wire from the front pipe on the bimini to the top of the little bow staff on the pulpit bow rail. I guess you could call it a sloper. Being a horizontal antenna it picks up much less noise than a vertical. When I push the mike button out goes 150 watts of talk power and thats all you need.

After all, you may run out of gas and need to be rescued and those teenagers on that roaring jetski will just flash past and leave you stranded out there all of a mile from shore because you could not be bothered to plan ahead...

It doesn't have a read-only filesystem, however all logs are written to a USB stick. On Sun, May 24, 2015 at 4:07 PM, Frister wrote: > I've noticed that on my RPI as well, > Time stability improved greatly when connected to a simple and well > cooled 7805 voltage > regulator.
