The term "planned obsolescence" was coined for good reason. Cheers Arild --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Version: 6.0.507 / Virus Database: 304 - Release Date: 8/4/2003

As with other Canadian legal anomalies, it's a coin toss, as the same charge could have different consequences depending on who prepares and/or hears the case. I guess it's better to be safe than sorry, especially when you don't know whether you have a really diligent Crown and Judge on the case.

Provision for a coin cell back up battery. unknown) One of the DS3231 parts, in a thermal enclosure that has a time constant in excess of 24 hours. I think it's about the size you request. A temperature sensor changes the divisor based on calibration data. Sort of a doubly compensated device TTCXO or T2XO. I like this one for a practical product.

Re: [time-nuts] Oncore question

When using a small coin Lithium battery, the backup time is only 6 months to 1 year or so typically, also not a very good performance. Not a good situation, they could have solved that more elegantly for sure.

Fortunately, it seems that a coin-cell battery will work perfectly. Once the boards arrive I'll do some tests with the supercapacitor. Many thanks to all for your help. Cheers! -Pete

If arriving in early am ( before 7:30 ) you must obtain your ticket from a machine just inside the gate so be sure to have $1.00 and $2.00 and / or 25 cent coins before you arrive at the docks as there is no place to get change and the machine does not make change. (There is a change machine (up to a $10 bill) there if you want to chance it).

Re: [time-nuts] Low noise frequency multiplication
Thu, Mar 1, 2007 4:02 PM
If I have the choice to use a) an harmonic X5 multiplier for the 10 MHz signal or b) a 54 MHz VCXO with the following specs: 0.8 ps RMS jitter, noise floor -145 db @ 100 kHz offset phase locked to the 10 MHz what is the prefered solution? Or is the answer dependent on what I plan to use the frequency standard for?

Replace the coin cell with great care (with the counter powered up), see the service manual for the procedure.
