All about displacement
Wed, Oct 19, 2005 1:38 PM
However there was a particular feature of all of these boats that caught my eye. Their displacements were all exactly the same! There were variations in the length, in the beam, the power and the speed of all of these boats. Enough differences that I questioned how could they all displace exactly the same amount?

Isn't it conceivable that this practice will encourage the bird to stay too late for migration and it will die? Susanne Shrader

The river system is easy by comparison with negligible open water and weather essentially a non-issue Top up at Hoppies as suggested then idle down the mississippi to maximize fuel economy (not sure if Kidds is still open) then get up and go upriver on the Ohio & Tennesse (call the lock ahead of time to see if you should run the cumberland route due to lock delays

Re: [CT Birds] Nesting Least Terns
Tue, Jun 16, 2009 8:28 PM
There were many terns, along with a pair of American Oystercatchers, all over that beach, but I didn't see any nesting from that view, although I didn't look very hard for them. However, there is a ridge at the top of that beach with a little vegetation on it and it was on the sandy back side of that ridge that I saw the nests.
