Chestnut Hill Hawk Watch, Litchfieldm CT - 26 Sept (Saturday)
Sat, Sep 26, 2015 9:19 PM
An interesting day (Sept 26, Saturday) at the Chestnut Hill Hawk Watch in Litchfield, CT. A golden eagle on set wings went fast past the hawk watch. One (David Babington) of the two observers just saw a large dark buteo going away from the watch. The other observer (Ayreslea Denny) saw the bird a bit longer and was convinced it was an adult golden eagle.

Thu, Sep 27, 2012 12:09 AM
Weather: Fog-Hazy stayed all day obscuring the sky. There were spots of blue but they were NOT crystal clear blue. The sun shown through a couple of times as a bright disk then was obscured by cloudy fog. Reports from visitors indicated that the sky was clear 15 km to the east of pour location. Barometer was steady at 29.9 in Hg.

Pretty well all of the raptor groups should be present tomorrow including buteos, accipiters, eagles and falcons. It may be good conditions for a golden eagle!

The only JMTT> possible way to tie a clove hitch would be around the top, down to deck JMTT> level, through a freeing port, back up over the top of the rail and JMTT> repeat. :-) JMTT> Jim Get some aluminum bar - perhaps 3/16" or 1/4" by 1 - 1.5 inches, and bend to fit neatly over the rail - cover with leather to protect the brightwork.
