TWL: Turkey Baster/Dipping Tool
Thu, Dec 28, 2000 9:17 PM
Last week I mentioned that a company here manufactures a large syringe like tool to suck water from bilges, squirt kids, geese and other small animals; clean out sinks, heads etc. Some readers wanted to see a picture of this device. Since attachments are not allowed on this list, if you send me your e-mail address, I'll e-mail you a JPEG (ca 150K). Or you can contact the manufacturer directly at hyplant@therainstick.com for pricing and shipping info. Phone # is (905) 420-5224 I have no connection to the firm but happily own one of their "tools". George of Scaramouche, Lake Ontario, Canada

I have used an older Motorola (my wife's) that works only in analogue and a Sony which I can switch from digital to analogue. Neither one is really reliable with the Sharp TM-20. However payphones and home-landlines are absolutely perfect.

e16@telus.net writes: >However, since many of you are concerned about cell phone roaming >and long >distance charges I don't think that's an issue as Pocketmail provides unlimited use of their 800 numbers. The problem as I see it is that digital cellphones don't work with Pocketmail and analogue ones are harder and harder to get (and don't work too well either) PocketMail works excellently from payphones and regular landlines - at least for me. The bottle-neck is the digital side which does not work with PocketMail. Check this out and adjust your needs accordingly. PocketMail is the only service at this time that works well for travellers. Don't just listen to me, do your own resaerch. George of Scaramouche, using PocketMail for about 6 months now.

I have no problems with voice. My phone, s SONY, can do analogue or digital and do it very well. My problem (and I said this a number of times) is using a cell phone with an e-mail machine, especially the Sharp TM-20 via PocketMail. And as I also said: PocketMail works excellently via landlines, both home, office or payphones. George of Scaramouche on Lake Ontario, Canada

Richter-Pooh@rocketmail.com writes: >Neither I nor most other mechanics use these tools Mark, if you ever come north of the 49th, be prepared for a shock. Everyone here uses Robertsons! And it's a good idea to have more than one set in your toolbox for a number of reasons. BTW there are quite a few different sizes :Yellow, green, red, black and double black - however only green and red are in common use. Any multitool screwdriver purchased here in Canada will have a red and green Robertson tip included. And if you ever buy a Robertson screwdiver, get one that says"ROBERTSON" on the shank. Cheap imitations (from below the 49 th and other foreign countries) tend to become rounded at the edges. - Where is that darn flame-suit??? Go to a good pharmacy and buy one of these "arm-extendesrs" they are made for hospitalized people to pick up telephones, coffee-cups etc without getting out of bed. Coat is about $10, extended reach about 2 feet and usefulness incomparable! Wouldn't be without it!!!
