I thought that was crazy too, until I learned to just poke a hole or two in the top when you start your oil change. Venting the filter like this will allow all the oil to drain back into the engine, and you can remove it without a drop spilling. You don't need bags, pads, etc. Maybe one paper towel.

I got one open the easy way. I just removed the screws and pulled the top off. There was an o-ring that made a very good fit. http://www.megapathdsl.net/~hmurray/time-nuts/Lucent-Antenna.jpg It took me two tries.

Boreal Chickadee: at least 5 at Spruce Bog Boardwalk entrance and near register box on February 26, vocalizing and easily seen. Pine Grosbeak: 20 at Visitor Centre feeders; 10 at West Gate feeder; and along highway. Red Crossbill: 2 at Spruce Bog on February 22. Two at Visitor Centre parking lot, February 24.

A list of all: Battery banks. By voltage. Tanks. Fuel, oil, water, grey water, black water. Location of all fills and vents. Whether fills are marked. Sources of power: generators, alternators, battery chargers. List of all thru hulls. What connected to and what condition. Whether an intake or overboard.
