Re: GL: Canadian Calling Card

If you always call the 800 number, you will not have to insert any coins into the pay phones. Costs were cheap - as I remember about 3.5 cents per minute. Fw: Re: SALISBURY HYDRO-VAC EHAUST SILENCERS FOR DETROITS

Here's the other side of the coin. In 1973, I bought a 1968 boat that had Salsbury Hydrovacs installed by the original owner. I sold that boat in 1983, and the mufflers were still in perfect condition. I will add that they worked well beyond my expectations.

Mike, Buy $500 worth of silver coins or bars today. Should get you about 15 ounces. Within 3 to 5 years you may be able to trade that for a used TSC5115A...

I have a DS3231 on a breakout board with its own coin cell keep-alive battery on the breakout board. I was messing with it and a BeagleBone about a year ago. I needed the BeagleBone for the ES100 experiments, so took both out of the drawer for the first time over Christmas holidays. Linux on the BBB tells you the last time you logged in.

Re: TWL: Shooting from the Lip/another side of the coin
Thu, Dec 20, 2001 3:34 AM
f my "Shooting from the Lip" post was primarily to ask that we cease and desist from cutting one-liners. They add nothing to the discourse and take a lot away from the List. I've already had about a dozen private e-mails from lurkers indicating this is one of the reasons they hesitate to participate. Over-sensitive? Maybe. But as one of them described it, no one wants to be "publicly undressed" for ignorance, and it's not easy to know when you meet whatever the TWL standard is. Folks, there is no standard. And that brings me to your comment about the accuracy - or not - of information on TWL which I'll cover in a separate post. Cheers, Garrett

What's All This Low Thermal EMF Test Lead Stuff?
Tue, Aug 19, 2014 6:07 AM
I do own HP3456 DMMs that are at the top of my instrumentation pecking order. I have all the necessary gear to calibrate these DMMs according to ancient HP documentation. At the top of my cal. chain is the 731B, called out in HP3456 original documentation. This hierarchy places me in the near-beer, or junior member status of the group.

Battery: HP3458A - Black Edition

The latest processor board (I have seen) uses a "coin" style battery. Loss of data or data dump during battery replacement can be a real problem.
