10 MHz notch filter
Tue, Oct 15, 2019 2:12 PM
I have just made an experimental 10 MHz notch filter for phase noise improvement. input - 50 Ohm to 400 Ohm transformer----- 400 Ohm lineĀ  ---- 400-to50-transformer - output. From the 400 Ohm line to GND are 2 cheap 10 MHz crystals, one with a 35pF series trimmer, the other with series trimmer and 4.7uH.

A couple of years ago I was touting the merits of the single LED Pelican flashlight which sold for $10. While the Pelican light is very good and rugged, it doesn't give as much light as the Chinese cheepies and uses batteries that cost $6 a set.

The only writings I am aware of, is what Dave Mills has written and the PLL code in NTPns, but I havn't followed this closely in the last 10 years, so do check for newer writings. Dave Mills coined the term "allan intercept" as the cross over of the two sources allan variances and it's a good google search for his relevant papers.

Hi folks, Diana and I just bought a new pair of binoculars and Nikon included a $10 off code for our "next Sport Optics purchase at nikonhunting.com or nikonbirding.com." We won't use this so if anyone is currently contemplating a Nikon purchase at either of these sites, just email me and I'll shoot you the code. It must be used by 5/1/2012.

I definitely used traps to reduce the 10, 30, and 40 MHz spurs (using 10->20 MHz as an example). It was no easy thing because I could only use coils of moderate Q (less than 50) and I needed at least 80 dB suppression. You might wonder why I needed to reduce 40 MHz spurs in the 20 MHz output.
