Fantastic connections and stories were shared among all the amazing observers and visitors today. It was a privilege to meet you all. Weather: Heavy fog until noon, then partly cloudy with temperatures in the upper single digits. There was a light breeze all day from NE, shifting to SE and then E for the last hour.

Re: [CT Birds] Owls yet again...

Not all Blue Jays get eaten because I feed the birds, but some do. Not all owls will die a horrible, tragic death because someone on a bird list told others where they were. This is clearly one of those topics birders will have to agree to disagree about.

I do own HP3456 DMMs that are at the top of my instrumentation pecking order. I have all the necessary gear to calibrate these DMMs according to ancient HP documentation. At the top of my cal. chain is the 731B, called out in HP3456 original documentation. This hierarchy places me in the near-beer, or junior member status of the group.

Top speed is in the 23-24 knot range at 24 gph with two new Volvo D3 220 hp 5 cylinder diesels 14-16 knots in reasonably calm water yields 1.5 naut mi per gallon. Did well in 10-12 ft swells with added chop, but not real enjoyable. Let me know if anybody wants to know something in particular and I will do my best to answer.

Even a tiny, intermittent air leak can cause an engine to stumble, drop it's rpm randomly, and die at lower rpms. ____________________ C. Marin Faure GB36-403 "La Perouse" Bellingham, Washington
