All counting is done by volunteers. Not all members are counters nor does a counter have to be a member. Typically one person is the designated counter for each day but other observers present assist with the spotting and identification. Counting is done from a steel observation tower with a wooden floor.

In my experience, Spot does exactly what they advertise: gives me a quick and easy way to send an "All's well" to friends and family no matter where I am. I also link it to my boat website so anyone looking for us will know where the boat is. (Check it out at: www.bluewaternav.com if you're so inclined.)

Below are links to websites that are probably old hat to many of the listees but there may be some new people who'd like more info available from these sites. I especially appreciate detailed info about local area modifications to ship channels that directly affect the safety of boaters in an area.
