VDO gauges (was: Tachometer )
Wed, Aug 24, 2005 9:39 AM
They were supplied with the Lugger, so I'm stuck with them until they die, after which I will replace them with Stewart-Warner. The wheelhouse tach reads 50 RPM lower than the ER tach at 1800. Hopefully, the pyrometer is accurate. Regards, John "Seahorse" Brent Hodges writes: I have a 1988 Albin with these same tach / hour meters.

Two DSC radios
Thu, Dec 17, 2009 11:00 PM
I have the radios hooked up to different GPS units in case one should die at an inopportune moment. They have independent antennas placed on opposite sides of the boat. Every battery on the boat can be tied into their power supply lines. We have a non-DSC walkie talkie in our ditch kit, right along with our personal locator beacon.

Re: T&T: heavy duty crimpers

I bought the harbor freight one and it works well but to crimp the 2/0 I had to open up a die to fit using a grinder & metal file (the dies are not that hard). It looks handy to also be used to swage and it comes with enough dies that are easy to modify for other purposes.

I don't have statistics, but, I suspect more people die of a heart attack when cruising than they do sinking... and the cost of an AED is similar to a EPIRB. /"So you're going to get this working or die trying? "/ Well I clearly have far too much time invested in this to just give up now. I refuse to let this program get the better of me.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American G.I. One died for you soul; ~ the other for your freedom.
