I am told that you can't "coat" with SS so I have to assume the anchor is SS! It came on my Monk 36 so I assumed that it was not SS as I think that those anchors are very expensive! David David E. Re: T&T: Passagemaker Magazine--a defense

SNIP : Bob Frenier wrote "Yeah, I know Passagemaker boat reviews rarely have a bad word to say about anything, but I just read between the lines and enjoy finding out what others seem to want in a boat. The thing is, despite its shortcomings and lack of objectivity, Passagemaker covers ocean going motor boats and I like that kind of boat.

Re: T&T: Cradlepoint EVDO Router
Mon, Dec 1, 2008 3:07 PM
Finally, I have a laptop that I use for my EVDO routing. I also run a $39 puck GPS and a backup copy of Nobeltec on that machine, so I have backup maps if I need them. The autopilot is a Comnav 1001, fed via NMEA from Nobeltec and driving a 24 volt reversing hydraulic pumpset. It's powered by the 24 volt house bank.

Re: T&T: Float sitches ( was: shower sump)

Talk about heart-stoping, but I could not leave the pilothouse to investigate. I removed it and seems that the reed switch had become stuck. Very strange. Basically, I think that we need to more or less accept that all float switches fail.

Re: T&T: VHF or not (and boater licensing).

I do this not ONLY so I can hear someone hailing me (which let's face it is mighty rare) but so that I may be of assistance if someone else needs help. So far, in 5 summers of boating, there HAVE been times when help is required. One was a tow, and a few times when I was able to provide a relay to a boat out of range of the CG.

I used one as >an >auxiliary for dockside and short trips in a unit with a holding >plate in the >freezer. I would not consider using one again. >Bob Austin Yeah, that's about what that one will do for me (and I dont know how to spell that either).

I was wondering if perhaps a bad oil pressure switch could >cause the problem. I'm sure I can chase it down eventually but thought I'd >see if anyone else had any ideas. I too experienced a similar problem. I have two 24 volt 150A Ample Power alternators, one for the start bank and one for the house bank.

I'm not an engineer, and I don't work for Vacuflush, but I can guarantee that they will have no problem pushing this. >I am also thinking I need a vented loop to avoid siphoning which means the >waste will be going up hill before even getting to the thru hull. You do not need a vented loop, because the pump already has a check valve.

Re: TWL: Re: Inflatable Leak

A few years ago I gave away a 12 ft METZELER for which I had paid $700 used, because I couldn't find the pinhole leaks.
