Re: T&T: West Marine 2009 catalog
Sun, Mar 1, 2009 6:26 PM
When I started to renovate Island Eagle, I knew I would be buying a lot of stuff, and I was lucky enough to be in a town (Nanaimo, BC) with two good marine stores plus a West. I went to the closest marine store (Nanaimo Marine Centre) and told him I'd be spending somewhere north of $50,000 on various stuff.

Re: TWL: Installing Depth Finder Sensor

Ciao - Scaramouche P.s: The sensor warned me in plenty of time last summer before I hit the rocks and took a chunk out off my keel - only I ignored its "Beep" because I was being distracted elsewhere....

Re: TWL: 12v & 110v in the same receptacle
Wed, Mar 7, 2001 2:35 PM
I just >had to >change the subject line. I would and I have this comment: Never in my wildest dreams would I have 12 V coming out of a 120 V type receptacle - never! My boat has numerous cigarette lighter sockets and I find them extremely flaky - they are simply not made for continuous use. Now what is a recommended alternative?

When I was doing the pilothouse on Island Eagle I did this and there were some incredible deals (like 75% off list). I never did end up using them, but it's worth a call. When I called Sea Glaze they sent me a fax of the sizes and shapes they had lying around.

cgrubb@bbdes.org writes: >I have to replace 6 cutlass bearings on our boat If I had to replace six cutless bearings (??), I 'd get a three-prong wheelpuller from a good tool supply-house. Some even rent these things. I wouldn't use hammer etc. Too easy to misalign the struts. Ciao _ George

I will be cutting an access hatch in the >salon/saloon floor >right above the genset so that future repairs/impeller replacements >can be >done from above. And I thought sailboats were tight for space....
