Re: [time-nuts] Oncore UT+ Battery Backup
Thu, Jun 27, 2013 6:47 AM
I had a dead PC motherboard and unsoldered a coin battery holder and the battery. The backup battery's shelf life is the limiting factor so the little coin battery will outlast the AA cell. The battery only backs up the memory and there is not much of a load on it, the self-discharge load is likely higher for the alkaline cell.

Top level sail making machines use a moving foot to stop one layer of slippery Dacron from sliding over the other but unless you are stitching for an America's Cup defender they are overkill. Larry Z (dictated by Maggie Z)

Re: T&T: Boat Owner Identification Website

Handy website below lets you search for owner information by either the boat name or ID# if the boat has been documented. It's also a good way to check the documentation expiration date, the names of your boat's previous owners (if any) and its previous names, your boat's net and gross tonnage.

Michael, I'm assuming you have electric cooking; if propane, just get a good old-fashioned stove-top percolator, they make great coffee. We line our perc's basket with a paper coffee filter to filter out the finer bits of grounds and make cleaning easier.
