X300/CBX-120 at high sample rates: Filter issues?
Fri, Feb 19, 2016 7:49 PM
Center frequencies are 50 MHz apart, so for example two measurements fc=3.00 GHz and fc=3.05 GHz should agree between 3.00 and 3.05 GHz. Instead they differ notably. With a lower sample rate this does not happen. What shapes the transfer function like that, besides the lowpass cutoff?

Tipping
Mon, Feb 5, 2007 1:04 AM
Tipping is part of the American way. If service is provided professionally then the person providing it should receive an appropriate tip. I have always tipped a dockmaster and/or assistant and the amount depends upon service provided, length of stay, etc. If I'm pulling in for lunch then it may be a 5 or a 10. If I'm doing an overnight it may be 10 - 20. If my stay is longer such as a week it may be a 50 and so on. I have always found it to be appreciated and something that is remembered upon my return. It can be an expensive proposition on a longer trip but those folks providing the service are part of the overall experience and let's face it - boating isn't a cheap hobby! Happy Cruising! Re: GL: Tipping Mechanics
Mon, Nov 5, 2007 11:07 PM
I have to agree that the price one must pay these days does not necessarily justify a tip although I do on occasion slip the guy actually doing the work a 20 depending upon the size of the job. Sadly, the guy doing the job gets a fraction of what one pays the owner but then as a business owner I know the woes of overhead, insurance, liabilities, etc. and the 85/hour does not shock me. It sure has forced me to do more work myself! In the past I have promoted tipping to those who provide a good service and if it is someone other than the owner doing the work I think a small token of appreciation may be warranted but certainly not required. Re: GL: maybe good news?

As a resident of the area I agree! They also have ridiculous fuel prices at Crow's Nest! I stayed one night this past weekend at Uncle Henry's in Boca Grande and found the same to be true with dockage costs and it too was empty. Can't understand their thinking either but you would think given the economy that they would encourage more people to use their boats and facilities if the prices were a little more reasonable. Re: GL: PRices on Boca Grande

Insurance is getting up there in cost and many of my friends are dropping it. I have had some problems given the age of my boat (1985) but it still isn't a factor in using the boat though it may be for some. I maintain the boat in pristine condition yet still face new demands every year from the insurance company such as updated survey and service records for surveyor's recommendations. I am curious as to what you say about Georgia - is the insurance more readily available at lesser premiums? Regular marinas, at least on the West coast of Florida, are generally full and spaces remain at a premium. There are wait lists that are years long for municipal facilities (I am on a couple) and many private facilities. Biggest problem is that so many marinas have gone condo. The transient trade and general use of boats seems to be off which I suspect is more fuel cost related in combination with the depressed economy in this area. Guess I'm willing to sacrifice other things though before my boating :-) so for the moment will continue to pay the price. Re: GL: Looking for good marina Punta Gorda/Ft. Myers area
Fri, Feb 29, 2008 11:47 PM
You may want to try Palm Island Marina right on the ICW in Cape Haze - about 1/2 hour North of the Boca Grand swing bridge. There is ferry service over to Palm Island which is a fun place to go. There is also Tweenwaters on Captiva Island - another great place to go. Not sure about Punta Gorda itself other than the Pier there but it is way up Charlotte Harbor. There are shops and restaurants and a quick bike ride to the little downtown area which is still recovering from Hurricane Charley. In Fort Myers there a a couple of marinas out on the beach and then up the Caloosahatchee you have the City Marina in downtown (good location) and Gulf Harbor which is further West and part of a community. Good Luck!
