No idea of price or availability but quite possibly a "non-mil" version is available through Yanmar or one of their distributors. No connection to Yanmar, just love the product. Joel Wilkins Project Management Idaho Power Co (208) 388-2326

They're used for shielded twisted pair kinds of applications as well (MIL-STD-1553B, for instance) and for audio applications.

Visiting Chicago by boat

DuSable Harbor is very well protected with security gate but you pay--over 40 feet (and they count your swim platform and bow pulpit in LOA), it's $2.35/foot plus $20 electric daily ($2.15/ft + $10 for less than 40). From both locations it's an easy walk to downtown.

That didn't stop me from enjoying reading about other slick things like those classy Chris Craft runabouts with all the chrome or those hot "10 hp" Mercury engines that could outrun every other 10 hp engine. Now that I am an old kid, I still enjoy reading about other folk's ideas, practices, toys and, yes, prejudices.

Chester, 10/10: first junco

Chester, 10/10: First junco of the season arrived today. One grackle, which is odd (one grackle is like one piece of popcorn). And a veritable army of goldfinches, some feeding young. Tammy Eustis Chester, CT
