We are planning a special issue of the Journal of Chinese History on environmental history for June 2018, and would love to have an article on the Tang-Song-Yuan period. We did think of Ling Zhang, but she is unable to contribute. Do you know of anyone else who would be good? A graduate student finishing a dissertation on a related topic would be fine, but would need to get the article manuscript to us by October 1, 2017 (more than ten months away). It could be on a wide range of topics--from environment and disease, to water management, climate change, to ways of thinking about nature, and so on.

Let me know if you have any ideas. If there is an important recent article in Chinese or Japanese, we could consider getting it translated/adapted.
