the motor on the dinghy so you don't have to remove it every time and
can store it in the vertical position.
Keep in mind that whatever system you get, you can not block your
vessel name and hailing port on the transom (Documented boats) and
it is not legal to paint the name and port of call on the bottom of
the dinghy. The name and hailing port must be a minimum of 4 inches
in height and in contrasting color on some part of the vessel (on one
or both sides is OK) and be clearly visible. Note: if your boat is
state registered with letters and numbers on the bow, this
requirement does not apply.

So just how do you carry your dinghy vertically with the weaver system
without blocking your vessel name and hailing port, John? Glass dinghy? You
must have one huge transom! Or just a state registered vessel.

Keith,
You have two choices if your dingy does not permit a clear view of
your name and hailing port on the transom.
(1) Tow your dingy behind your boat when underway.
(2) Purchase new graphics for one or both sides of your boat where
they will have an unobstructed view, 4 inch minimum height and
contrasting color (per the Federal CFR's). There is no requirement
to be on both sides or on the transom, just one place. See photo's
of our boat on our website (address below).
BTW, your sarcastic comments are not appreciated, we were only trying
to help this list comply and avoid an unnecessary boarding by the CG.

John & Judy,
Great Info, GREAT website and I too wish there was more respect at times
within the group. It is a wonderful place to share valuable and helpful
information. There are things on which there will be differing opinions but
those should be shared in a professional manner. I'm sure Keith didn't mean
his comment to be offensive but we should all watch our words and the manner
in which they are presented. I've enjoyed your photos and they have given
me greater motivation to begin planning my own adventure!
Best Regards,
