Transmitting at a high frequency/receiving at baseband with single USRP

Hi All,

My application requires generating signal with high carrier frequency
(~500MHz) and receiving at baseband.
To achieve this I'm using one USRP N210 with WBX (transmitter) connected
through mimo cable with an USRP with LFRX daughterboard (receiver).
To limit power consumption and weight I'm planning to use for this task
single USRP.
It would be possible if there was for example a separate transmit only
daughterboard that could be put in singnle case together with LFRX.

Since there is no such option - is there some other way to achieve what
I want? I'm thinking for example of some hack/modification of WBX that
wouldn't at the same time kill the RX part of it. But I don't know where
to start yet.
Can you suggest some solution?

That would only be the LFTX; I don't know if the BasicTX would also work
sharing a N210 with a LFRX, but I don't seem much use in trying.

Two options:

  1. Mixing up your TX signal with your own circuitry and using
    LFTX+LFRX; kind of reduces the flexibility of SDR, but would work if
    you only had a single carrier frequency (or everything stayed within
    the bandwidth of your TX daughterboard and the mixer)
  2. Using the WBX for TX and RX by mixing your baseband signal to
    something that the WBX might receive. This might be a bit more
    flexible, because you get all the tuning abilities of the WBX RX
    part, and if you say "your application requires reception at
    baseband", I assume that you have some mixing circuitry at RX,
    anyway, but you would introduce more analog parts in your RX chain,
    which might deteriorate your RX signal quality... it really depends
    on your application.
