Hi Guys,

Found a free dock in Manistee MI, something that is not listed in my
cruising guides.  Free that is if you have dinner at the Tuscan Grille.

Dock is new, about 100 ft long, located on the south side of the channel
going to Manistee Lake just before the second bridge (Memorial Street
Bridge).  There are no services, i.e.; no electric or water but what do you
expect for "free".  The only sign by the dock says "Dock & Dine".

I talked to Joel, the manager (phone (231) 723-4200), about staying
overnight and no problem since we were having dinner.  We were anchored with
Wayne & Lynn on "Skinwalker" in Manistee Lake, they used the dock for tying
up their dinghies when coming into town and for lunch.

Do watch for obstructions on either end of the dock, west end has an old
piling sticking out of the water and the east end has weeds and what looks
like a large hunk of concrete just beyond the dock.  We tied up in the
middle and found 6.7 ft depth.

The Tuscan Grille has great food by the way and a piano bar in addition to
balcony dinning over looking the water.  So with easy access to downtown
Manistee and great food it has been a very enjoyable evening.

Now if the winds die down a bit on Lake Michigan maybe we can continue south
on Saturday.
