Taking the Express bus back and forth from Tacoma to Seattle has presented a wealth of time to study fellow passengers: their fashions, uniforms, posture, body shapes, lifestyle choices, facial expressions, costumes, and habits. For example, what is it they carry on their trip? Is electronic equipment in evidence? Maybe they are even reading a book!
This exhibit features low relief wall vignettes of each rider seated on the 594 Sound Transit Express Bus, and the viewed landscape they pass each trip. For example, when one sees Southcenter, they know they’re halfway to their destination. The Puyallup River, industrial yet beautiful from the bus window, means, in MY case, I’m almost home. . .
OK, I cheated a little on the attached image of Chihuly delivering glass art to my Tacoma home. . . the 594 Express DOES NOT go by my house. . .
If you're in Seattle come see RIDING THE EXPRESS BUS TO AND FROM SEATTLE
