Subject: Visiting Birder
Greetings Bill and Chris,
I am a birder living in the Seattle WA who will be in Connecticut later this month to attend my son's graduation from Wesleyan. I would love to squeeze in some birding while there and saw your names on the New Haven Bird Club site as leading trips around the time I will be there. Bill is off to Naugatuck on the 18th (I arrive late on the 19th) and Chris is heading to Stonington on Saturday the 19th. I wish I was coming in earlier so I could join you to Naugatuck but obviously that does not work. Stonington looks like it is about an hour from Middletown so that is a possibility although Saturday is not ideal as Friday the 20th would be the best time.
Given those imperfect fits for your trips, I am writing for advice/guidance wondering if you could put me in touch with someone local (closer to Middletown where I will be staying the better) who might be up for an excursion on Friday morning. I am a pretty good birder but admittedly VERY weak on Eastern Warblers and it is always a treat to see them when back your way (not that frequently). I am good company and would even be willing to "hire" someone on as a guide if that were an option.
Any ideas, contacts or thoughts would be appreciated.
And Chris, in case I could work it out to be able to get to Stonington, is the 7:00 a.m. time the time to meet at the commuter lot at Exit 55?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
