For the record, I've been a subscriber to the Panbo website for two or three years and recommend it highly for anyone interested in a focus on the bleeding edge in the marine electronics world. Ben Ellison who owns the site is a Yale grad, former schooner skipper, former commercial fisherman, former editor of Reed's Nautical Almanac, and is the widely respected electronics editor of both Power & Motor Yacht and Sail. He's also an inveterate tinkerer, as his site makes clear, and he loves playing with new electronics stuff and trying to break it or find its faults. The Panbo website is an outgrowth of Ben's consuming interest in marine electronics and he never hesitates to call a spade a spade on the site. I believe so much in what he's doing that after I met Ben this summer in Maine I donated $100 to help keep the site going, something rather out of character for me. Ben's the real deal and IMHO you can take what he says to the bank.

I would offer this one word of caution....
