Good morning,
I am pleased to invite you to the upcoming Emerging Technologies Interest Group Meeting on Teams, scheduled for May 14 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Please keep an eye out for the meeting invitation.
During our previous discussions, we planned to dedicate part of this meeting to Meeting Room Booking. Along with sharing our experiences at Thousand Oaks Library, I encourage everyone to participate in a structured exchange by considering these questions:
- What software do you use for your Meeting Room Booking?
- What features do you find most valuable?
- How do you manage the user agreement acknowledgment process?
- What is the one change you would like to implement to improve the public/staff processes?
Feel free to add any other questions or topics you think would be helpful for our discussion. If you have additional items you'd like to bring up, please share them in this thread.
For example:
ADA TITLE II Compliance Discussion
Looking forward to seeing you in the next virtual meeting.
Regards,
Samantha

Thank you Samantha, I will definitely attend the meeting.
Question for all concerning hotspots; PVLD provides hotspots to patrons as
a service and all was fine until recently.
Recently we've seen a significant increase in demand for hotspots....all of
them have holds. Then a few patrons indicated to us that other libraries
have suspended their hotspot programs, especially LA City and LA County.
Please let me know if your library has suspended its patron hotspot service.
Thanks!

Hi,
We noticed that as well. We suspended our hotspot program for different reasons. Mainly because we did not get them returned or they were damaged. We recently joined T-Mobile and will be restarting the hotspot program once we catalog the new hotspots. (Our previous hotspots were from Mobile Citizen.)

Thank you Samantha, I will definitely attend the meeting.
Question for all concerning hotspots; PVLD provides hotspots to patrons as a service and all was fine until recently.
Recently we've seen a significant increase in demand for hotspots....all of them have holds. Then a few patrons indicated to us that other libraries have suspended their hotspot programs, especially LA City and LA County. Please let me know if your library has suspended its patron hotspot service.
Thanks!

Hi Everyone,
We started a new hotspot and Chromebook (w/built-in data) lending program in July 2025 with T-Mobile. We started with 130 hotspots and 80 Chromebooks. We only check them out to those 18+. We made sure we added the Chromebooks to a Google Management console to be able to shut them down when they aren’t returned on time. We also created a lending policy that the patron must sign. We then verify their phone number is correct by calling it while they’re there. We had issues with them giving us incorrect information at first.
Unfortunately, we have still seen loss and damage. Luckily, we were able to include some replacement costs into our FY27 budget for more Chromebooks. T-Mobile has been generous with replacing our hotspots when we have loss/damage. We also received a generous donation from our library foundation to cover the data costs for the year.
We see value in these programs, but the damage and loss are tough for sure.
Best,
Amanda

Thank you Samantha, I will definitely attend the meeting.
Question for all concerning hotspots; PVLD provides hotspots to patrons as a service and all was fine until recently.
Recently we've seen a significant increase in demand for hotspots....all of them have holds. Then a few patrons indicated to us that other libraries have suspended their hotspot programs, especially LA City and LA County. Please let me know if your library has suspended its patron hotspot service.
Thanks!

Hi,
We noticed that as well. We suspended our hotspot program for different reasons. Mainly because we did not get them returned or they were damaged. We recently joined T-Mobile and will be restarting the hotspot program once we catalog the new hotspots. (Our previous hotspots were from Mobile Citizen.)

Hi,
We noticed that as well. We suspended our hotspot program for different reasons. Mainly because we did not get them returned or they were damaged. We recently joined T-Mobile and will be restarting the hotspot program once we catalog the new hotspots. (Our previous hotspots were from Mobile Citizen.)

Hi Laszlo,
We noticed that about 2 months ago. We have not suspended our program at the Alhambra Library.

Thanks!

1. What software do you use for your Meeting Room Booking?
2. What features do you find most valuable?
3. How do you manage the user agreement acknowledgment process?
4. What is the one change you would like to implement to improve the public/staff processes?

ADA TITLE II Compliance Discussion
Looking forward to seeing you in the next virtual meeting.

Good morning. Please find attached the notes from yesterday's meeting. The notes were generated using CoPilot and edited by a human. Please let me know if there are any errors.
We're excited to consider scheduling an in-person meeting around August or September! Your input is valuable, and your participation makes these meetings much smoother as an IG. We'd love to hear your thoughts. If we decide to meet in person, let's choose a new date and venue, or we can keep it virtual. We will probably need to decide on the topic of discussion as well.
The Cooperative Purchasing Survey has been extended for input until 5/18. We would like to hear from you. https://forms.cloud.microsoft/g/Mp5ZTJ2DqX
