Thanks for the advice Richard. However I am committed to a different but
somewhat similar approach. I will switch to just one start battery and that
will be charged by the regular alternator (55 amp) on one of the engines. I
have purchased a Balmar 110 amp alternator and Balmar 3-stage regulator for
the other engine and they will be dedicated to the house bank, so I will be
charging the house bank when out running. In addition to the regular
alternator I have a 20 amp 3-stage charger that is dedicated to the start
bank, so it will be charging the start bank when on shore power and when the
genny is running. And the Freedom 25 invertor/charger will charge the house
bank when on shore power or the genny. I will keep the house and start banks
completely separate, but if the start battery should die out on the water I
can start the generator (with its own battery) to charge the start battery
via the start battery charger or use heavy duty cables to jump from the
house bank to the start battery.

I think it should all work out. Thanks again.

"Alan, consider a reconfig of your high amp system like this:
Both of your alternators charging house bank,
rewire one of your start bank as part of the house bank (still only one
house bank but larger,
start your engines one at a time from one start bank (same one you have),
install a (10A) black box smart charger for your start bank,
run your amp meter(s) from a shunt"
