Postmark Center for the Arts
Postmark Center for the Arts is proud to present its newest exhibition, ...A Familiar taste. Please join us for the opening reception this Thursday evening to celebrate the collaboration of various creative communities.
...A Familiar Taste highlights narratives from artists of color through the lens of food and cultural foodways. This exhibit presents a visual and literary feast evoking a diverse range of connections, emotions, and memories. It is an invitation to consider one's own relationship to food and explore how different backgrounds and experiences inform our interaction with culinary traditions.
From nostalgic recollections of intimate kitchen convenings and childhood meals, to traveling to a motherland and savoring familiar flavors, and using food as symbolism to further explore socio-political complexities of cultural identity, ...A Familiar Taste uses the common thread of food as a vessel for storytelling, cultural preservation and reconnection, and community building.
