Total observation time: 7 hours

Official Counter:        Hugh Kent

Observers:        Chip Ogglesby, Liz Kent, Paul Gosselin

Visitors:
Thanks to Chip and Paul for helping us observe the few raptors that flew
today. It was good to see Alysha and James and Scott and Katherine again.

Weather:
It was overcast all day with a light wind from the south, increasing to
moderate in late afternoon. There was a short period of rain early morning,
and the day struggled to brighten up from then on. The temperature remained
in the low teens all day. Visibility was generally good but a bit hazy.

Raptor Observations:
Another quiet day with hardly any raptors seen in the morning. Turkey
Vultures (141) ventured through in dribs and drabs in the afternoon.
Red-tailed Hawks (6) were second with a low number, and the rest, Northern
Harrier (5), Sharp-shinned Hawk (4), Red-shouldered Hawk (3), Cooper's Hawk
(2) and Bald Eagle (1) finished the countdown.

Non-raptor Observations:
Ducks, ducks and ducks again. Numbers are pretty stable. We are getting
better views from the tower with them venturing closer, including a very
nice male American Wigeon. Better numbers of Sparrows today with good views
of Fox Sparrow (6) from the Tower. Rusty Blackbirds (260) remain the most
numerous blackbirds. Other small bird numbers were generally lower, but we
did have 36 American Pipit over. The list is at
https://ebird.org/checklist/S153760368

Predictions:
A light wind from the north is forecast until midday. It will be partially
cloudy with about 40% cloud. The temperature will rise to about 10c late
afternoon. Hopefully the north wind and scattered clouds will result in a
few more raptors appearing tomorrow. We could do with more buteos and
Golden Eagles.
