05/24/14 - South Glastonbury, Still Hill Cemetery near Cotton Hollow
Preserve -- MISSISSIPPI KITE seen flying low from the cemetery over
Route 17 heading southwest at 5:05 PM. This is the second sighting in
the area in the past few days, Denise Jernigan saw one fly over her
residence, and the third in the past month.

Saltmarsh Sparrow, male Boat-tailed Grackle seen and heard.

Flycatcher, Yellow-bellied Flycatcher.

Barn Hill Road, a great turnout, 30+ Bobolink, 4 Grasshopper Sparrows.

noteable.
New Haven, yard -- birds included Swainson's Thrush (singing),
Wilson's Warbler and Blackburnian warbler.

05/24/14 - ?????, Meshomasic -- Acadain Flycatcher, Acadian Fly at big
white pine stand near yellow gate where N Mulford Rd curves to the
east.

05/24/14 - New Haven, East Rock Park, Giant Steps area -- 7:45 to
10:00 AM; Black Vulture 3, Yellow-bellied Flycatcher 1, Swainson's
Thrush 1, Tennessee Warbler 2 (h), Blackburnian Warbler 2.

05/24/14 - Westbrook, on the Menunketesuck Flats -- at low tide
(between 1:30 and 2:30 PM); four RED KNOTS (three in full breeding
plumage). Flyby Little Blue Heron noted (going to and from Duck
Island).

05/24/14 - Madison, Hammonasset Beach State Park -- 3 Purple
Sandpipers on the breakwater at Meigs Point, American Pipit on the
beach near the beginning of the moraine trail. Also 3 Saltmarsh
Sparrows.

including 1 BAY-BREASTED WARBLER, 1 BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER (possibly on
territory), and 1 BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO.

05/23/14 - Milford, Milford Point -- WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER, on the
mud on the Sound side opposite the platform.

05/23/14 - Bethany, Spykman Preserve (borders Lake Chamberlain) -- 1
Black-billed Cuckoo.  I also had two unidentified cuckoos fly across
my path at Lake Chamberlain (they were likely Yellow-billed). I have
heard that Cuckoos are later migrants so don't give up looking for
them.
Woodbridge, Unpaved section of Sperry Rd (near the abandoned house) --
1 Yellow-billed Cuckoo calling. Heard while walking dogs. It is a good
day when you get both Cuckoos

05/23/14 - Lyme (?), Gungy Rd -- 1 Cerulean Warbler.
Hartman Park -- 3 or 4 Cerulean Warblers, very high up and very
colorless due to the gray light.

05/23/14 - Milford, Silver Sands SP -- 4:00 PM; male Mourning Warbler
in willow thicket off of gravel service path running btw boardwalk and
old SS Road; path on east side on pond formed by Nettleton Creek. (old
Nettleton Rd the border btw SSSP and Walnut Beach).

05/23/14 - Derby, Osbornedale State Park -- Bobolink singing between
the two ponds. Also a Blue-winged Warbler giving a mixed
Blue-winged/Golden-winged song.

was alive with birds! The species include Bay-breasted Warbler,
Blackburnian Warbler, Wilson's Warbler. 15 species in all!

calling, then one chasing the other through row of trees that
separates wet meadow near parking lot from agricultural field.

produced two Seaside Sparrows well seen near marsh pond at Meig's
Point and one Eastern Meadowlark in Meig's Point parking lot, Little
Blue Heron in the marsh.

Quinnipiac River, at the Quinnipiac River Park in Fair Haven, 2 blocks
south of the Grand Avenue Bridge.

05/22/14 - Westport, Sherwood Island SP -- Nelson's Sparrow at edge of
marsh behind the model airplane field. I flushed the bird while
walking the edge and it popped up and landed atop a piece of driftwood
out in the open and allowing for excellent views.

05/22/14 - Salem,  Rt 82 area -- 1 YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO (heard),
CERULEAN WARBLER.
East Lyme portion, Nehantic State Forest -- 2 YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOOS
seen together, 1 SWAINSON'S THRUSH.

05/22/14 - Simsbury Town Forest Park -- probable Olive-Sided
Flycatcher. (I am never 100% sure on flycatchers if they are not
singing, but this one was sitting upright and had the dark "vest." )

Hartman Park, Devil’s Hopyard State Park, and roads between -- ACADIAN
FLYCATCHER calling at six different locations. CERULEAN WARBLER
singing at five locations.
