Dick, Bob, Joe, Peter, Pat, Uwe, Maurice, Myles, Robert and Deborah,
Mike, Brian, Harry and others--

Thank you for the input and feedback.

As your listmeister, I have no desire whatsoever to limit discussion or
to shorten the length of valuable posts to the list. On the contrary,
the main reason why I spend time and money providing this service is to
encourage discussion on cruising, voyaging and living aboard motor
vessels of all makes and all types.

Thus, there should be no concerns whatsoever about me aiming to stiffle
discussion. None.

What I am most concerned about is the time and money wasted by me and by
others in dealing with needless quotes. It's as simple as that. Period.

Some of you have suggested I lighten up. Thank you for your kind
sentiments but I can assure you I always lighten up when I work on the
list as it brings me so much information, so much entertainment and so
much pure joy. It's such a cool list I can't believe I had a hand in
starting it! It is also why I shall continue to be so protective of
it--because we have a genuine gem going here.

Therefore, please, please, please, do not automatically quote the entire
previous message when adding comments in a thread. Indeed, toggle off the
option on your email application that does so. Quote only what is
necessary for understanding or continuity. Often, no quoting at all is
needed. Rarely is there a need to quote the entire previous message. If
you do quote, please ensure the quote is not longer than the new
message you are adding in the thread.

Unnecessary quoting is a waste of time and money.
