HI All,
Does anyone have further information about the possible Brewer's Blackbird being reported from Ashford?? To borrow a phrase, this is a mega in CT, and I'm surprised at the lack of response or buzz over this sighting...?Has a photo been taken? ?Is their access for birders??? Thanks

To the many fine folks who have expressed an interest in the Brewers
sighting, yes, there has been a response and a buzz, and yes, we are
ready to photograph if the opportunity presents itself. Mark Szantyr is
ready to take photos, and he visited the house Saturday at 2:00pm, but
as in any good "Murphy's Law" scenario the bird has not returned.
For those who are interested, I felt the 1999 National Geographic Field
Guide to the Birds of North America gave a more useful depiction than
several other popular and more recent sources I checked; to reiterate,
the back appeared soft dark brown, not bronze and not rusty. Long legs,
beak shorter and heavier than Rusty, slightly different body profile (to
me), etc. fit Brewers - not the other species and not Rusty. We are
watching and will spread the word if it returns.
Thanks for your interest!
