Cruising America's Great Loop and other inland routes
View all threadsElliott,
I would like to clarify one thing for you re: your request for clearing Canadian customs. The I-68 you refer to is not issued by Canadian Immigration. It is issued and required by the U.S. Immigration. Canada doesn't require it at all, but if you visit Canada, when you return to the U.S. you must have one.
When you go to get one they require 3 head shots (we get ours taken at one of those machines in the mall), your I.D. and $16.00 per person (max $32.00 per family if you have young children). Everyone on your boat will require one, so if you plan to have guests or crew aboard make sure they have one too.
I hope that helps.

I understand the I-68 is beneficial if you will be crossing in and out
regularly or a number of times. It is beneficial, but not required unless
something changed in the last 90 days. We (two owners and two guests)
easily came back through customs from the North Channel with just our
passports and the annual sticker.
