After looking at all the posts, I have to chip this in. In the Galveston
Bay area, we've found that things written on the bottom of a boat with a
Marks-A-Lot black marker are totally clean when the boat is hauled
again. This is usually over bottom paints, both ablative and non. My
boatyard guys pointed this out to me. Now I've never tried it on bronze,
but it seems worth a try, even if you just mark up a several square inch
area to see what happens. All of the cremes like Desitin will wash off,
probably pretty quickly if you have a fast turning prop. I never have a
problem with mine, but sounds like some of you do in other areas. Try
out a Marks-A-Lot and see what happens. Don't know if any "magic marker"
will work, but might be worth a little dock test too.
