All I can say is that both my current boat and my previous boat (Dyer 29)
have/had all supports bolted through the hull with both fender washers and
5200. On the Dyer, the platform supports were bonded. The number of supports
depends upon platform width and material. The Dyer had welded 316L supports
while the Willard seems to be supported by aluminum tubing. Both are quite
rugged. In previous posts, some listees have suggested that welded SS should
not be permanently submerged as it requires O2 to remain "stainless."
Perhaps you should ask a PE to do a calculation to include the weight of
whatever might end-up on the platform - like three people.
