Anchor lights

David,

What kind off option have you come up with for an LED anchor light? I'd
like one that has a photocell to shut it off at daybreak. Wish I could
find one with a rechargeable battery that I could run up the mast. Pull
it down in the morning and leave on charge underway = zero amps used.

Ron;

Have a look at http://www.carmanah.com  I think their 2 mile light model 601
in white will meet your requirements. Has built in battery and photo switch.

I haven't any personal experience with the product.

Turns itself on and off, and only uses 120mA at 12V.

Belay my last re: Carmanah. It doesn't have an off switch. I woke up this
morning imagining a boat underway in the dark with this thing on, along with
the running lights, and no way to turn it off.

I own one of those and I love it.  It is very bright and completely
hermetically sealed.  The only downside is that it has a fairly wide base
and you have to fabricate something in order to mount it on top of the
mast.  It has a very cold white color that makes your boat very easy to
spot in an anchorage.  It uses so little power that I just wired it into an
instrument circuit and did not bother to put a switch on it.

Highly recommended.

Best,

Steve

Does this mean that it will come on when under way at night?  Is there a
possibility that you could be under way after sunset with an ancor light on
and no running lights on?
