Onan Mounts

My boat is a 1985 and has an Onan 8KW generator with ~2000 hours on it. The
mechanic noticed that the generator is down on its mounts to that the AC
portion hits the drip pan when running. There is excessive vibration. He is
at a loss to explain how they could die in 2000 hours.

I thought that the rubber material might have decayed in 20 years. Have no
idea, yet, what replacements cost. At the generator end, two mounts are
close together in the center while on the end with the engine they are at
the corners. Any experience with this problem/task?

Ever used an Ozone generator in the bilge for odor control?

Not me. Only owned boat for 4 months. I am using one forward until I figure
out the source of holding tank fumes.

Engine room is clean, bulkheaded fore and aft, and without odor. No telling
what a PO has done, but hard to see the cause for using an ozone generator.

I have used an ozone generator for eight years on my 43' trawler with NO
damage to any rubber be it drive belts hoses or motor/genset mounts. I don't
know this got generated, but it's totally untruem at least in my case. Just
my $.02 worth !!!!!
