I certainly agree with Rob, that something catastrophic happened for all of
your batteries to be dead at once.
I used a group 31, with relitatively light cables to start a 220 hp 5.9 B
series Cummins on my motorhome for 6 years with no problems. I also have
started Cat 3208's with a single group 27. So the two group 31's should do
fine for the 3208's--as long as they are topped off. What do you have for the
house bank?

Sam,
I use a pair of Optima starting batteries, the blue-top version with the marine
connectors. They are tiny, but they pack a punch - and there's no maintenance.
They work great on my boat's 260hp Volvo KAD44.
A pair Optima red-tops (same battery, different connectors) unfailingly spin my
275hp 5.9 Cummins pickup even when it's 10 degrees. A number of Cummins truck
owners use only a single one.
