For several years I have been buying solar LED yard lights at places
like Home Depot and Lowes and sticking then in rail mounted rod
holders to provide light on the deck at night. These don't stand up
to the salt water environment well and the light does not last
through the night.
Does anybody have a source of such lights that might work better in a
marine environment?

I use the ones that sell for about $6.00 from Harbor Freight Tools. The
ones we have on Sanderling (four of them) have lasted over eight months
now and are still going strong. They're always on the rails, even when
we're in our home marina in the hot Florida sun and drenching rain. The
light lasts 6-10 hours - not all night, but long enough.
I don't know if they're any better then the others, but they're cheap
enough to replace even every six months if necessary.
We like the light they provide at night when we're anchored out,
particularly. If you want something that is going to last all night,
you'd probably need to get some LEDs you could wire to the battery bank.

Look to the left side of this photo, http://tinyurl.com/nf6l6k , we buy
these at Home Depot. They cost $20.00 for a set of four. This set is over a
year old. When they die or we loose parts we buy another set. If exposed to
sunlight all day, they come on at sunset and last all night. If you want
lights that last a long time and are brighter you will need to wire them into
your 12 volt system. Chuck
