My recommendation - which I have done for 30 years now, is to buy numbered
ruled ledgers from any stationery supply house. They look nice, are easy to
find, are of consistent size, and will keep all your treasured memories easy
to reach on the bookshelf - just use a label maker on the spine with the
vessel's name and time period covered. I used to paste in Polaroids of
visiting crew and that still brings back memories, even though the photos
have faded over the years. Some crew members have put in sketches and poems
etc. Perhaps today a digital photo printed out would do the trick and if
they fade they're now easy to replace, and will be in the future - assuming
there are still computers in 30 years.
