IMHO, as long as your NOT taking any compensation, of ANY  KIND(beer, fuel,
tips,etc) I think it may be ok, however, I am  pretty sure there would be a
question on insurance.

This very issue was talked about in my Sea School class.  One of the
class members was a sitting judge who also owned a small hotel.  He was
taking the class so that way he could take them out and still keep
coverage on his boat.  Another member was pretty creative he was a real
estate agent, and as a side business did water tours of homes(Guess
which ones got top billing).  Again, he took the class so that he could
protect himself with insurance.
