Briefing on WIOA Reauthorization Bill

Greetings NCL Board Members:

You may have heard the bipartisan, bicameral policy staff from the House
Education and Workforce Committee and Senate Health, Education, Labor, and
Pensions Committee have reached agreement with their negotiations, and have
requested a meeting with NCL to provide an overview of the WIOA
reauthorization bill and answer any questions we may have.

I wanted to give board members a heads up about this meeting and request
your attendance, if you're available.  The meeting will be held Monday,
December 2nd at 12:00 noon (EST)
.  Later on today I will send further
details about this meeting to you and to our membership.

In the meantime, you can read the bill at the following link:
https://www.sanders.senate.gov/wp-content/uploads/KIN24641.pdf and/or read
the attached summary.

This is exciting news and it's my understanding that this bill is currently
being hotlined around in order to get it passed quickly with little or no
debate.

If you are not able to attend, I'll provide an update at our next policy
meeting (Dec. 4th at 3:00).

On another note, I wanted to take this opportunity during a week when we
are supposed to give thanks, to thank all of you for your work on the NCL
board and for your dedication to the field of adult education and
literacy.  :)

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
