Hello Everyone,
I am interested to know if anyone has seen a Chukar recently among your
yards. In 2011 I had three different Chukars visit my house all within a
month. I could have miss identified it. Does anyone have information.
Thank you,
Michael Aronson, Farmington
Michael:
Chukar is a non-native and unmistakeable species. It is observed
occasionally near areas where it is released for hunting purposes. I
observe chukar two or three times a year at my feeders, as my residence is
adjacent to the Wallingford Hunt and Rod Club.

A few years back I had 2 Chukars perched on my roof along side the chimney. It was a very windy cool day and they were enjoying the shelter and warmth. They stayed a few hours but were never seen again. I thought they were special, and they were! but was told that they are one of the locally hunted species so had most likely been released.
