Optima batteries are carried by some Sears Roebuck stores. Once in a
while they have a sale which cuts the price by 1/3.

1/3 is pretty significant as Sears prices aren't that bad. COSTCO sells at
least two sizes of Optima batteries. The two I saw were type 31 red top and
blue top. Red is starting and blue is deep cycle OR dual purpose. That's the
good news, however, the nomenclature on the blue top that I bought doesn't
exactly match that given on the Optima or Sears' websites. Mine says "31M."
It is my emergency battery and it is amazing how long it holds a charge just
sitting here in the saloon so I can monitor it and charge when necessary. It
has been sitting for 3 months and it still shows 12.65V. Haven't checked it
under load, however.
