View all threadsDear CollectionSpace Community,
The CollectionSpace Leadership Working Group elected in June 2016 has initiated a quarterly meeting schedule. We met for the first time in September and held our second meeting in November.
Going forward, as Chair of the CollectionSpace Leadership Working Group, I will update the membership on topics and decisions after each quarterly meeting.
In these two meetings we discussed a variety of topics including:
Overall financial sustainability, with a focus on improving our membership outreach efforts at both the individual institution and consortial level
Pending mini grant proposals - look for announcements on exciting projects funded soon
Collateral updates - we are working to update our handouts and website to enable members and working group members to more effectively spread the word about CollectionSpace in their communities
Outreach efforts including an upcoming presentation at the Coalition for Networked Information (CNI) in December. We were very pleased to have our session, "Collaborations to Improve Collections Management and Access with CollectionSpace" accepted. You can see more at: https://www.cni.org/events/membership-meetings/upcoming-meeting/fall-2016/schedule-f16<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.cni.org_events_membership-2Dmeetings_upcoming-2Dmeeting_fall-2D2016_schedule-2Df16&d=CwMFAg&c=WO-RGvefibhHBZq3fL85hQ&r=FRClhsB8MoZpzpjl618daRLwTDHzTj-thPNaw2gAkDA&m=mckEB2Mk3Gjm06QbWDYmW_RFUn8isyeETbUtrCJG2VQ&s=ykGhFBHXvOYqZHmPdk20hzzHhfASNdz9K_pRSidBfBs&e=>
Various partnerships including
o Western States Arts Federation (WESTAF): Building on a successful community design workshop in August, the CollectionSpace program team continues to work with WESTAF to design, fund, and build a profile to support the management of public art collections
o GSD/RISD: The Harvard University Graduate School of Design and Rhode Island School of Design have partnered together to develop a new profile for CollectionSpace designed to improve management of design materials collections, and have begun a coordinated outreach effort to bring in additional new implementers
In closing, I am very happy to report that the CollectionSpace program continues to grow. As of the November, there are nine members across the six membership levels, and four active Registered Service Providers (http://www.collectionspace.org/find-a-registered-service-provider/https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__www.collectionspace.org_find-2Da-2Dregistered-2Dservice-2Dprovider_&d=CwMFAg&c=WO-RGvefibhHBZq3fL85hQ&r=FRClhsB8MoZpzpjl618daRLwTDHzTj-thPNaw2gAkDA&m=mckEB2Mk3Gjm06QbWDYmW_RFUn8isyeETbUtrCJG2VQ&s=EfSlORwknOz7pV4r0f3KUnQMdFeWh5WQ7MbOOuvOWeQ&e=) offering CollectionSpace services.
We are looking to you as members to work with us in two ways. One -we are seeking two additional members to join the Leadership Working Group. If you have any interest, or know of a good candidate, please let us know. Two - we would like to hear your thoughts on individuals or institutions you are aware of that have interest in CollectionSpace.
The working group extends its thanks to all of you for your continuing support and ongoing contributions to the great community we are building.
Respectfully,
Ann Whiteside
